A perennial crowd-pleaser, Odane Whilby's band returns for the final concert of BAE's Van Cortlandt Park summer season.  Please join us for this joyful program of oldies, pop, and R&B favorites for all ages. 

Bronx Arts Ensemble honors the history of American songwriting with an American Songbook program, featuring the vocal talents of Deanna Kirk and Victoria Ortiz, fearless artists and educators. With a wide-ranging selection of beloved songs from both jazz and Broadway traditions.

Native Soul is a band that brings together the separate-but-equal talents of four very talented artists. The main constant, however, is the musicianship. Their sound is so well melded that the four players suggest the wealth of tone and sound produced by the Big Bands. But they go a step beyond big sound and instead turn into a quartet where it is impossible to single out a lead player.

Bronx Arts Ensemble's string quartet presents a program of music by all Francophone composers. Centering around Ravel's String Quartet in F Major, the program will also feature the guitar music of Haitian composer Frantz Casséus and the string music of Germaine Tailleferre, member of the infamous French composers' collective Les Six.   

The Latin Jazz Workshop, named for Charles Mingus’ Jazz Workshop, is an ensemble that performs mostly original music as well as an eclectic variety of arrangements of music by composers as varied as Thelonious Monk, Kurt Weill, Jimi Hendrix, Rafael Hernandez, John Lennon, and Wayne Shorter.

For the final concert of Bronx Arts Ensemble's parks season, Mary Ann McSweeney's quintet jams in Burns Playground, highlighting the vocal talents of Syndee Winters, who plays Nala in The Lion King on Broadway.

The foremost plena group in New York, Los Pleneros de la 21, joins resistance singer Taína Asili to explore the political meaning of plena in conjunction with her own original protest songs.
