BRONX ARTS ENSEMBLE ANNOUNCES FREE SUMMERMUSIC 2017 CONCERT SERIES

Free concerts featuring Afro-Cuban Music, Tango, Latin and New Orleans Jazz, Funk with R&B, Golden Oldies, and Mozart will be presented by the Bronx Arts Ensemble in Parks throughout the Bronx and at Fordham University in July and August. The bands and the music were chosen in response to requests made by audiences who attended previous summer concerts.

The bands performing in the parks are primarily led by Bronx Arts Ensemble (BAE) Teaching Artists who are part of BAE’s arts-in-education programs, serving over 100,000 students in Bronx Public Schools since the 1980s.  The Teaching Artists provide multi-disciplinary residencies during school hours and after-school, and also summer activities, that culminate in original auditorium programs and in-school art exhibits.  The summer series of concerts provides audiences an opportunity to see those teaching artists as performers and leaders of their own professional bands.  BAE has a winter and spring series and has brought the arts to more than 50,000 people annually in neighborhoods across the Bronx since 1972.
