The Bronx Arts Ensemble is a multidisciplinary arts organization serving its diverse communities and developing audiences through arts education and musical performances. Our professional teaching artists offer students a dynamic, first-hand experience in the full spectrum of all four disciplines.

  • Teaching Artists provide a unique energy in the classroom: The experience of an artist, actively engaged in a professional career, imparting the knowledge of their artistic field to students on a daily basis.
  • Forming links between the arts and other subject areas in school curriculums, BAE TAs provide students with training that inspires the discipline and commitment required to attain the skills to execute the creative arts.
  • BAE works diligently to align its curriculum content with NYC DOE Arts “Blueprints” for Music, Dance, Visual Arts, and Theater.
  • Focus is given to the quality of the arts education – teaching of skills and techniques, the development of an aesthetic awareness, the pursuit of an understanding of the world, and a shared understanding of the arts as an outlet for self–expression.
  • Teaching artists are often multiracial and multilingual, and are keenly aware of the ethnic, linguistic and socioeconomic parameters of the student population.
  • At least 75% of BAE’s teaching artists return to the same school each year, providing educational scaffolding and deeper curriculum connections.
  • BAE Teaching Artists provide arts services in environments populated with students that are classified as Special Needs (IEP specific), English Language Learners (ELLs), and Transitional (homeless), which present many challenges for instruction.

“Thanks to Bronx Arts Ensemble, I won a full scholarship to Alvin Ailey, a full scholarship to the Ailey Summer Intensive and a full year grant at Perri Dance.  I graduated high school with honors and am now fulfilling my dream of becoming a doctor and helping people.”
