Bronx Arts Ensemble and Courtney’s Stars of Tomorrow: From Stillness to Glory

May 16 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm
FREE
From Stillness to Glory
An evening of music that moves from introspection to exultation. The Bronx Arts Ensemble and the CSOT Concert Chorale explore the luminous sound world of French sacred and orchestral repertoire, with works by Ravel, Fauré, Massenet, and Gounod, before turning to the depth and vitality of the American spiritual tradition.

The program features the world premiere of Balm in Gilead, a tone poem by Courtney Carey inspired by the poetry of Grace Schulman and the spiritual “There is a Balm in Gilead,” alongside settings of traditional spirituals by Burleigh, Dawson, Hogan, and Stacey V. Gibbs. The evening culminates in a powerful expression of faith, endurance, and joy.
