Bronx, NY 10 June, 2021: The Bronx Arts Ensemble (BAE) is proud to announce ¡Jazz Puertorriqueño! 2021 Virtual Fundraising Benefit Concert: featuring Bobby Sanabria and his Multiverse Big Band. The multi-Grammy nominated Bobby Sanabria Multiverse Big Band has been called a “force of nature” by Jazz Times Magazine. The program focuses on the music of Bobby’s ancestral homeland, Puerto Rico. The pieces performed reflect the past, present, and future of Puerto Rican music–reflecting a kaleidoscope of rhythms spanning legendary masters like Felix Astol, Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri, and the island’s most famous composer, Don Rafael Hernández. Bobby, a South Bronx Native, is happy to lend his time and talents to BAE for this landmark event.
The Bronx Arts Ensemble is a Bronx-based nonprofit organization that provides arts in education programming for schools throughout the borough and free concerts throughout the Bronx community. Throughout the pandemic, BAE has honored its commitment to the community by pivoting to a completely virtual season; offering online arts classes, music education programs, and online concerts.
The benefit concert is FREE to view, and donations are being collected to benefit BAE’s programs.
Performers: Bobby Sanabria Multiverse Big Band and BAE Strings: Susan Dominguez violin, Sally Shumway viola, Orlando Wells viola, and Eliana Mendoza cello
