Artist Residencies




BAE’s educational programs adhere to New York State Learning Standards, and include

•drama/literacy and music/drama
•visual arts (drawing, painting, working with clay, papier maché, bookmaking and collage)
•dance (tap, hip-hop, ballroom, Latin dance, African dance, capoeira, step and jazz dance)
•chorus (basic choral instruction and gospel chorus)
•applied music instruction in song flute, recorder, clarinet, trumpet, band, keyboards, violin, cello, ukulele, guitar, African drumming, Latin drumming and percussion
•beginning music appreciation
•media arts and photography
*creative writing, poetry and spoken word

Our programs take place throughout the Bronx as well as in other boroughs and Westchester County. Teaching artists work with school faculty in developing programs to enhance their teaching curriculum.

SAMPLES OF RECENT BAE SCHOOL PROGRAMS
PS 126 - Instruction in recorder, violin, guitar, African drumming and dance, with a final Family Arts Night at which proud parents see children perform - a happy culmination of the year’s work.

PS 64 - Cultural heritage is celebrated through a neighborhood festival featuring student performances in dance, drumming, drama and singing, as well as an art exhibit illuminating the school’s diversity.

PS 58 - A large scale art exhibit including a 3-piece mosaic based on favorite childhood books, guided by BAE instructor Paul Limperopoulos.

Bronx International High School - Serving a multicultural student community with instruction in guitar, visual arts, ballroom dance, African drumming, modern dance, magic, photography, spoken word and music production
