Bronx Arts remembers heroes at Memorial Day park concert

Tango music and popular film score arrangements will take center stage at the Bronx Arts Ensemble’s annual Memorial Day concert May 28.
This musical ensemble welcomes guest pianist and arranger Pablo Zinger to the stage with his own arrangement of scores from notable films like “The Pink Panther,” “Modern Times,” and more.
Zinger and the Bronx Arts Ensemble also will perform popular tango songs as well as “Habanera” from the opera “Carmen.”
The concert starts at 2 p.m., on Sunday at Van Cortlandt Park. It takes place east of the Van Cortlandt House Museum on West 242nd Street and Broadway.
The Bronx Arts Ensemble has performed a Memorial Day concert for more than 30 years, previously entertaining crowds at Woodlawn Cemetery before moving them to Van Cortlandt.
For Marilyn Kushick, a volunteer who joined the team in the fall of 2016, this will be her first Memorial Day concert. It aligns with the ensemble’s mission to serve all of the Bronx through their music, she said.
As a lover of tango, she’s looking forward to hearing Zinger’s renditions of popular songs.
“It’s a relaxing way to spend Memorial Day,” she said.
